Enlighten the shrine.
summary
The dazzling shikhara of the Mahabodhi was lit using fixtures from the Lumenpulse brand under the ILDL brand portfolio.
about the project
One of the holiest sites of Buddhism, marking the spot of the Buddha’s Enlightenment, the Mahabodhi Temple is located on the banks of the Niranjana river in Bodh Gaya. The structure comprises numerous horizontal bands of moldings and arch motifs that extend upward to an amalaka topped by umbrella-shaped forms, recalling the umbrella motifs found at Buddhist stupas dating back to the time of Asoka and earlier.
lighting design intent
The site of Buddha’s enlightenment shines bright with lighting the Mahabodhi. Lighting the Mahabodhi, aims to make one of the largest and most lasting light offerings to the historic Mahabodhi Mahavira Temple in Bodh Gaya, India. Fixtures used from Lumenpulse in ILDL’s portfolio accentuated the crown of the structure while beautifully picking up the architecturally crafted details of the heritage. The light together creates a balance, elegance and harmony thus achieving the desired lighting levels.
