about the project

Inspired by the life of Mahatma Gandhi, Mahatma Mandir is a convention and exhibition Centre as well as a memorial located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Shaped like a salt mound, the convention Centre has column free air-conditioned halls with capacity to accommodate over 15,000 people at a time and is a symbol of the dandi satyagraha. The cone shaped monument stands at an extraordinary height of 45mt.

lighting design intent

Gandhi’s vision and legacy are at the core of the Dandi Kutir Museum – a unique architectural and experiential edifice providing visitors a forward-looking space to contemplate Gandhian principles and reflect on their singular and our collective futures. To work in line with the same principles that the architect had, the lighting of the interior areas was done using fixtures from AlphaLED under ILDL’s brand portfolio. The use of surface ceiling luminaires along with the track luminaries helped to highlight the artifacts present in the museum creating an emotional historic connect with the visitors.
